ApplicationsDamsKeller techniques can be applied for a number of engineering requirements on new or existing dams. Rock Grouting is often used to construct groundwater cut-off barriers below new or existing Dams to prevent water seepage beneath or around the dam. Grouting is offered in accordance with classic “thin to thick” approach to rock grouting or the more recently adopted Grout “Intensity Number” (GIN) method. In order to limit earthworks Keller has applied alternative soil improvements in Dam constructions to meet specific limitations and requirements. These systems include water cut-offs in both existing and new dams by Slurry Cut-off Walls, excavated through soil and weak rock for groundwater control purposes. In addition, ground improvement methods are used to improve factors of safety against earthquake Liquefaction and long term stability. Ground Improvement methods that can be used include the installation of Vibro-Stone Columns, Jet Grouting, Dynamic Compaction and Dry Soil Mixing.
