ApplicationsEnvironment & RemediationThe development and contaminated sites often requires the containment of leachate. Egress of leachate from sites can be prevented using low permeability Slurry Walls which can be installed to depths of 20m using specialist backhoe excavators and deeper using crane mounted grabs. Keller provides ‘Cement Bentonite’ and ‘Soil-Bentonite Walls’, the choice of method depending on a number of factors including the size of the project, the wall permeability requirement and the soil/leachate chemistry. Alternatively Soil Mixing with large contiguous columns can also provide a low permeable barrier. Keller companies in Europe lead the development of Permeable Reactive Barriers (PRB) This system can be combined with Slurry Walls funnel leachate through active carbon filters or zero valent iron to remove contamination. > Case History: Woodlawn Mine Slurry Wall> Case History: Birkenhead, Adelaide | ||
