ApplicationsUnderpinningWhere buildings have been constructed on loose or soft soils, foundation settlement can often occur due to inadequate foundations, fluctuations in groundwater levels or due to the influence of nearby excavations. Compaction Grouting is often used to densify granular soils or provide load transfer across inclusions of soft soil. The technique can be carried out before or after the excavation of neighbouring basements to limit the effects of basement construction. Of particular advantage is the small plant used to carry out the work which means that restricted access locations can still be treated. Keller regularly uses the method around domestic properties. Keller regularly uses Soilcrete Jet Grouting and Microfine Permeation Grouting to improve soils below existing foundations to support greater loads or allow basement excavation.
